This is a very important read for anyone who isn’t knowledgeable about the actual sensors in theses two wonderful cameras which have recently been announced, RED Scarlet & C300. What’s intriguing to me is how the Scarlet achieves it’s 4K performance through Bayer Interpolation, therefore falsifying the claim from RED that Scarlet’s sensor captures 4k. Bayer Interpolation basically means that a significant portion of the output resolution (15-20%) is generated after capture using a highly accurate estimation system. Canon’s C300 truly captures in 4k… all the information captured for RGB is real, nothing is generated guess work. Though it’s only 1080p, it’s a PERFECT way to generate that resolution. You’ll have plenty to work with in post.
