Elle & Be travelled to New York City with the wonderful duo Angela and Tim, of TIMCHIIN Photography. The mission was simple - meet up with Shane & Christina, two amazing models we hired, and spend the day getting some amazing footage around New York. Now, you might expect me to say “The mission was simple, BUT then we ran into obstacle after obstacle, and BARELY got out alive with the footage we almost couldn’t shoot!” BUT that’s not the case this time. The mission was simple and so was the shoot… I guess that’s the beauty of working with true professional models, you say go and they GO! They were amazing to work with and so consistently creative in their technique and posture. If I could smile like either one of them I’d have my face frozen in that position! We scurried around SOHO and Time Square with three cameras constantly firing off… click click click click click click click!!! We loved the attention it was drawing - you’ll see in the video the scene where Shane and Christina run through Time Square which looks like a dead ringer to a Banana Republic commercial! Hey, It’s ok to enjoy the moment, and it’s ok for you to know we enjoyed it…
One of my favorite aspects of this shoot had to be the implementation of the Digital Harienzumi Version 1 camera. It’s around $200 and is probably the best camera in the world (in the price range) in terms of ascetic an feel. It replicates Super 8 film but in my opinion surpasses the film version as you get this totally unique look in a dinky little body (must be .2lbs…) that literally has a mini SD card to go straight into the computer, on to the editing timeline. It’s gorgeous poetry. Thank you Tokyo.
There’s no real story to this video in regards to the couple - If anything it’s two models who HAVE already found love together, are married, and are now commissioned to walk around New York City… modelling! It’s beautiful! BUT it is a very cool example of an interesting mix between top-notch photo & video we like to call Fusion.
