Blayre’s innovative filmmaking style lends itself to a distinct mixture of striking, sophisticated cinematography and quirky observation of the human condition. His ambitious curiosity has earned him the status as one of the preeminent contemporary cinematographers in Toronto.
Growing up in Calgary, his passion for production stemmed from an early childhood fascination with his then vague understanding of a video camera, and all it’s possibilities. This was evident early in the game when he would simply refuse to hand in school projects unless permitted to render them on video.
His work has been exhibited internationally as his portfolio has steadily grown to include impressive clients like Gene Simmons, Harry Rosen, W. Brett Wilson and Galen Weston. Working extensively with celebrities and ordinary people alike, perceiving beauty and humanity that go beyond time and place.
Whether he hangs out with Dallas Green or weaves his way through the French Concession in Shanghai, Blayre always captures a sense of intimacy and candidness that compels us to look at his cinematic pictures, excites the senses and provokes thought. He offers his unique perspective through his idiosyncratic world of subjects, revealing it in all its wonderfully peculiar glory.
